Another Week

Another week and weekend have flown past. The week flies by. My new job keeps me busy, checking in here and there, going where needed or making connections that will be needed later. One kindergartner I had been spending a lot of time with has been out sick. Last report was that he has pneumonia and has been in intensive care. Poor kid. Coming back to school, whenever that might be, will be hard for him having been out for more than a week.
I went back to the Dr. this week so he could check my eye. He said everything looked good and I didn't need to come back for a month. The last day or so I've noticed that the stitches seem to be sticking out of my eyelid. I hope that means they are still dissolving. The scratchy feeling in my eye has stopped which is good. Now I just have to go another week without makeup.
Saturday morning H and I went out to breakfast and then to the farmer's market. It's amazing how much stuff is still out there. They close in just a couple weeks. We were stocking up on the pasture raised ground beef but also picked up some salad greens and late season tomatoes. It was rainy and damp most of the day. I managed to squeeze in a walk between showers but we never did see the sun. Today dawned bright and beautiful. What a difference a little sun can make.
We went for a little drive today to visit Scott's new apartment. It's very nice and he seems very happy there. He has a nice view of the woods instead of the parking lot which is really nice for him.
When we returned from Scott's, I took the pups to the high school and they were so happy. Yesterday was too rainy and they spent the day following me around. Zoe was particularly frisky today and did her best to keep the frisbee away from Charlie every chance she got.
From the high school we went out to the garden. I'm sorry to say I haven't been out there in over a month. So bad. I wanted to pick up my tomato cages before something happened to them.
Most plots look as bad or worse than mine. Only a few look like they had been tended recently.
Here's a beautiful Fall picture.
I harvested my carrots. Many of them had been snacked on my something but I was able to salvage many of them.
I also picked some Rosemary. That's really all that was left. The few frosts we had got everything else. I really need to spend a few hours out there and get it ready for Winter. I also need to plant my garlic, and soon. Maybe next weekend.
So that's it. Another week, gone. Bowling this week! Have a good week!

And I Lived....

To tell the tale!! I know no one else thought I wouldn't make it but I have to admit, I did have my doubts. Even after 3 C-sections and 1 appendectomy, I've never been put under before. Sometimes people don't wake up. It can happen. Of course no one ever thinks it will happen to them, but I do! I had surgery on my eye on Thursday to remove a mole that was on my lash line and starting to block my vision. When I was telling people at school that I was going in for this surgery only a few even knew what I was talking about. I've managed to camouflage it well for 10 or so years but without that makeup it was HUGE! I went in Thursday morning at 7:00, got prepped, which amounted to wearing a gown and getting an IV in my hand. I was wheeled into the "operating room", the anesthetist said he was going to start giving me "the medicine" and the next thing I knew they were calling my name in the recovery area. Easy peasy! I've kept ice on it for 3 days, as ordered, tried not to bend at the waist or lift anything, slept on my back propped up, taken extra strength Tylenol and now, 3 days later it's looking ok. Now my next dilema, how in the hell am I going to get through the next week at work with NO MAKEUP?
It's been a pretty dismal weekend. Yesterday it rained most of the day and was very gray. Today is warmer, interestingly, but also gray and a bit windy. I had just resigned myself into packing away my capris and sandals and then today it is actually warm enough to wear them.
At least for one more day. Then the cold comes back and Fall is back in the air.
I haven't seen a hummingbird in at least 10 days now.
Squirrels are abundant and stocking up their winter pantry's. I just realized yesterday that I haven't seen my old buddy Stumpy in quite some time. I hope he survived the summer.
This weekend I baked these cookies (Thanks Pillsbury)
and made some dog food.
And I made these this afternoon. Someone may be getting a little surprise in the mail soon!
Mostly I put a pack of peas on my eye every hour, faithfully, so I couldn't go too far from home. Those frozen peas don't travel well.
Even though we've had a few frosts, these roses are hanging on. These are the last though. Pretty pink roses, I will miss you!
Everyone in the neighborhood is getting ready for Halloween. I've noticed how many people are decorating for Halloween these days. I haven't even bought a pumpkin yet. I'll have to get on that soon.
A, A & Q are rolling along. Anon has been sick this weekend. Hope you feel better soon, Anon!! We've been "face timing" with Q most nights. She's such a character. Her imagination just amazes me. This is her rendition of singing with a microphone.
I just love her style!! And I love that she loves purple, like her Mimi!
It's going to be a long time until Christmas!
Tyler is doing ok. We try to talk to him on Sunday afternoons (Sunday morning for him). The job search continues. He's branching out from Marine Biology and just wants to find anything he can right now so his savings doesn't run out.
Scott is enjoying his life without the "rents". We usually talk to him or he drops by on the weekend. He's supposed to come by for dinner tonight. Probably the first time he's had a vegetable in a while! He really likes his new job too. He says it gets better and better every day.
That's it. Have a good week! GO TIGERS!!

Quiet Weekend...

The leaves in some spots are really changing all around the neighborhood. The sun was hitting this tree just right yesterday morning.
Look at those beautiful orange leaves. This tree on the pond always turns first.
The weekend was pretty quiet. Saturday I made my puppies some treats since they were down to their last bag. They wait so patiently, hoping I'm gonna drop some on the floor. I also made some homemade chicken noodle soup for dinner. H was feeling a little under the weather and the soup was just the ticket! Look at this guy. Another of "our" cats. He was catching a snooze on the back deck until I knocked on the window. Earlier in the day his buddy, the ocelot looking cat, was rolling around on the front porch.
Someone else was keeping an eye on him too! And wishing he could get down there to where he was!
Now that I'm looking at this picture it doesn't look that impressive. Looking out the window at it was better. It just shows the subtle changes in the leaves.
I was able to get the pups to the park today. They were appreciative.
We got a new picture of our little sweetie. She looks so grown up.
It's been 3 months since we've seen her in person. We miss her. There doesn't seem to be any time to travel back and forth between now and Christmas so we will probably have to wait until then. :-( Not too happy about that. What's a Mimi to do?
